How to get there
The town is in the centre of A Limia, about 40 km from Ourense, and the A-52 motorway (Rías Baixas) links it with the provincial capital and with Verín and Portugal. There is no train in the town: the nearest railway station is in Ourense. Pilgrims on the Portuguese Vía de la Plata Way pass through the town.
Where to sleep
The town has small guesthouses and a pilgrim hostel, because Xinzo is a stage on the Way. For big festivals such as the Entroido, book in advance.
Where to eat
The map lists about eighteen bars, cafés and restaurants in the town, including places such as Antela, Carmiña, A Balouta, Trisquel, Bando’s or A Fornada (the latter in the parish of A Pena). The reference dishes of A Limia are explained in Gastronomy of A Limia: the potato, the cocido stew, the botelo and the Entroido sweets.
Shopping and provisions
The Praza de Abastos is Xinzo’s municipal market and the place to buy local garden produce. The fair is held on the 14th and 27th of each month, the subject of the page The fairs of Xinzo through time.
