The economy of A Limia rests on farming and livestock, with Xinzo de Limia as its commercial capital. The comarca’s website xinzodelimia.eu summed up the situation as follows: the fundamental crop is the potato; livestock farming consists of family holdings and pig, sheep and poultry farms; industry centres on food processing, farm machinery and the extraction of aggregates and building materials; and the fastest-growing sector was the business park next to Xinzo [1].

The industrial Xinzo of 1961
In 1961 Antonio Nieto Oliva described a town with well-established trade and a growing industry: the Molinera Antelana, Feculeras Gallegas, Mantequerías Anduriña, the Matadero del Limia slaughterhouse, sawmills, factories making chocolate, fizzy drinks, ice and ceramics, and the potato companies Propasi and Aga. The fairs of the 14th, 21st and 27th made the town, in his view, the largest market for livestock, potatoes and pulses in Galicia [2]. See Antonio Nieto Oliva.
Other sectors
The comarca’s website explained that the working population shows the growing importance of the service sector and the shift of surplus labour away from the land, as land consolidation and mechanisation improved production structures. The return of emigrants and the growth of the town revived construction, around which several industries developed [1].
